A few notes from winemaker Chris Williams...
In The Vineyard: The 2008 growing season was slow to wake due to cool weather, pushing bud break and flowering back considerably. A warm July was welcomed, only to be followed by a cool and somewhat wet August. We were blessed with a gorgeous Indian Summer which increased the clusters sugar levels. Early October rains followed by sunshine, allowed our Riesling and Pinot Noir to ripen slowly, evenly and fully. We were able to begin harvesting the beautiful clusters in mid-October.
In The Winery: Throughout the season, we were busy preparing our new winery for the 2008 harvest. We purchased a significant amount of equipment including a destemmer, a press, many 2.5 Ton stainless steel fermentation tanks and a few small lot wooden fermenters. The winery looks so great! It has been an absolute bee-hive of activity! The new equipment ensures that our wines will continue to be made with gentle handling and individual small lot fermentations.
