Chris Blanchard, MS

Earthy, blackberry, black plum and black cherry with exotic spices on the nose. Purple flowers, tree bark, forest floor and white mush- rooms. Intense, fruit forward and powerful nose.

Rich and meaty, dark red cherry, wild blackberries from the vine and earthy roast beet and mush- room flavors. Ripe and full bodied, slightly stemmy and brambly with moderate grit and mulberry, root beer and black fruit on the finish. Moderate acidity that adds a nice freshness to the ripe fruit.

This would work well with fat. A delicious marbled steak with mush- rooms, spare ribs, carne asada on the grill, etc.

Bright ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of ripe cherry and dark berries, dried rose, licorice and smoky minerals. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors that gain sweetness with air. Definitely shows the heft of the vintage. Finishes on a smoky note, displaying very good length, building tannins and repeating floral and cherry notes.
