2014 Janus Pinot Noir MAGNUM

$ 100.00 / 1.5L Bottle

In Roman mythology, Janus is the God representing balance for new beginnings and endings, the future and the past, and the connecting doorways. Janus is our flagship. It possesses the richest, most vibrant and intense blend that we produce. This wine is the ultimate expression of Pinot Noir!

Chris Blanchard, MS

Wonderful bright fruit of raspberry, cherry, and rhubarb on the nose. Cola, ripe strawberry, mush- room beetroot and earth, with a hint of cinnamon and spices.

Delicious mouthwatering red fruits in the mouth. Initially I’m reminded of just ripening wild strawberries, cranberry, Rainier cherry and raspberries still on the vine. It has beautiful tart acidity, yet still carries medium weight and a lushness that expands on the palate. Love the freshness and the vibrant acidity that reminds me of a red Sancerre. Moderate tannins on the finish, with a long lasting taste of mineral, red fruit and acidity.

I can see this obviously with salmon, perhaps with a spring pea and edamame puree and a soy and mirin glaze. A seared duck breast with root vegetables would be beautiful, as well as a nice roast fish with chanterelle mushrooms.

Limpid ruby-red. Ripe red berries, candied rose, cola, spicecake and a subtle touch of peppery spices on the perfumed nose. Plush, seamless and broad on entry, then more taut in the midpalate, offering concentrated raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that unfold and become sweeter with air. A rich yet lively Pinot that finishes with very good focus, building tannins and an echo of cherry.
