Carl Muska planted 15+ acres northeast adjacent to Brooks Estate Vineyard with our two favorite varietals, Pinot Noir and Riesling, with hopes to grow fantastic grapes that truly show the terroir of the volcanic soils of the Eola Amity Hills. Over the years his small vineyard has produced powerful and expressive versions of these varietals which we blended to add muscle and depth to our Willamette Valley wines. When tasting through Brooks barrels, our winemaker Chris Williams found the Muska Pinot to be one of his favorites and chose to pay tribute to Carl’s dedication by creating a small, single vineyard bottling of Muska Pinot Noir. Carl has been one of our favorite neighbors and has even planted a small parcel of Orange Muscat at Chris’ request. We are excited to share our relationships to our growers with you through our wines. Enjoy! Only 50 cases produced.

Deeper red and nearly opaque, you can sense structure and power in the heady richness of the dark red fruit aromas emanating from the glass. Indeed the aromas of cola, root and dry spices coat the deep dark black cherry notes, with just a slight hint of orange in the high notes.

On the palate the wine is certainly rich and full bodied, with a perception of skin tannin on the finish. The fruits are black plum, huckleberry, marionberry and black cherry. There is a creaminess and toastiness that might suggest barrel aging. This is a delicious powerful wine that offers toasted Indian spices, black truffle and grilled porcini mushrooms. The fruit is intense, full and powerful and the finish is long and luxurious.

This would certainly work with a lamb curry, not too hot, or chicken vindaloo. Certainly would work with sun dried tomatoes, game, venison, or a simple burger on the grill topped with cooked mushrooms.

Vivid ruby. A highly aromatic, spice-tinged bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, lavender and cola, and a zesty mineral flourish builds as the wine opens with air. Shows impressive energy and lift on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and cherry compote flavors complicated by hints of spicecake and candied flowers. Sweet and seamless in texture, finishing with very good energy and silky, harmonious tannins.
