2014 Ara Riesling

$ 28.00 / Bottle

Named after the altar of the centaur known as Chiron, who was half horse, half man, and thought to be the wisest creature on Earth. Produced biodynamically when the stars are in the right alignment, this wine represents power and finesse and evolves in the cellar into a wine that truly is stellar.

The grapes for our Ara Riesling come from vines in Yamhill Vineyards and our Brooks Estate. Élevage takes place in stainless steel to retain the vibrant fruit character of Willamette Valley Riesling.

You’ll notice that the 2014 is our current release. We hold this wine back a few years to develop additional complexity and to let the wine’s character develop. We recommend socking a few bottles away in your wine cellar for 4-6 years – you’ll be pleased with the results!

Chris Blanchard, MS
Yellow peach, petrol, macadamia, bruised apple, ginger root, white pepper, and orange blossom. Dry wine, but very ripe, sweet peaches, nectarines and pear, wrapped up in a white floral bouquet. Mouth filling, creamy texture, lifted by a bright burst of acidity and minerality, culminating in a persistent satisfying finish. Dungeness crab on the Oregon Coast cracked and served with lemon butter would be a great pairing with this wine, but it would work well as a finisher with fruit and cheese.
