2014 Tethys Dessert Riesling

$ 25.00 / Bottle

Tethys is the Titan Goddess and Ice Moon of Saturn. Discovered by Cassini in 1684, Tethys was most likely liquid, before it was frozen solid. We like to think of this particular Riesling as “liquid gold”. It is rich and fruity, framed with excellent acidity. 375 cases produced.
Dried apricot and bruised pear, kumquat, smoke, fig, dried flowers and potpourri. Ginger snaps, snickerdoodles, burnt orange peel, golden fig jam, marmalade, farmers market honey. Like a vibrant snappy sauternes without the botrytis or noble rot. Clean, unctuous, viscous and rich, but also light and elegant, structured with racy acid. Candied oranges, golden raisins, dried apricot, roasted peaches, compote, citrus, the list goes on and on. Love finding such complex wines like this, where you never seem to run out of descriptors.

A fatty piece of foie gras on toasted brioche and some ginger jam or a slap of marmalade would do nicely. Vanilla ice cream with caramel would also be heavenly.
