What our team says
This Riesling is perfectly balanced with bright acidity and ripe fruit notes of quince, yellow apple, guava and Rainier cherry.
I would enjoy this wine with New England clam chowder, make sure you add some spicy chorizo as well for a little kick!
This is the first year we’ve made a single vineyard Hyland Riesling. It is one of the oldest vineyards we work with and typically reserved just for our sparkling program, but we loved the wine so much in 2017 that we decided to bottle a stand alone wine. The combination of bright tropical fruits and crunchy acidity confirm it was a good decision!
Brooks has it all — Great story, great people, great wines.
Vintage Notes
A wet, cool spring delayed flowering until late June, which set the stage fora later harvest than the previous three vintages.
Hot, dry conditions prevailed through the summer, yielding heat spikes in August. With a larger than normal fruit set, the grapes enjoyed long hangtime leading up to harvest. Conditions cooled and brought in scattered rains with the harvest, which began at Brooks on the 28th of September and ran through November 1st, almost returning to normal average harvest dates in the Willamette Valley.
The wines from the vintage show fresh fruit flavors and lively acidity. In all, it will be remembered as a classic vintage in Oregon!
