Earthy Pinot Noir wine from Oregon

This collection highlights rich and earthy Pinot Noir from Brooks Wine. The wines in this assortment tend to come from fruit grown on marine sedimentary soil, one of the prominent soil types in Willamette Valley. Originally, the land known today as Oregon existed thousands of feet under the sea. When the tectonic plates shifted, that land was lifted up and out of the ocean. Therefore, the base of Oregon's soil is comprised of sediments from marine organisms (i.e., marine sedimentary soil). This soil type is fine in texture, low in fertility, and drains very well. All of which put necessary strain on the vines for expressive characteristics in the fruit. Marine sedimentary soil is also quite pale in color, which allows sunlight to reflect off the soil and concentrate its strength on the canopy of the vine where the fruit is ripening. The result is well ripened grapes with deep concentrations of color, flavor, and tannin structure from well developed skins. The "earthy" aroma and flavor profiles of Pinot Noir from marine sedimentary soils are often characterized by blue and black fruits, baking spices, and strong organic materials such as mushrooms, black tea, and tobacco.
