I hope this finds you safe and healthy. And thank you to all our healthcare workers on the front lines working so hard for everyone. I had my first COVID test out of an abundance of caution. Not pleasant but grateful that the result was negative.
One of my favorite reasons for taking Brooks customers on international trips is the long-lasting friendships that are made. This week, eight of attendees on our river cruise to Portugal in 2019 reunited in the Willamette Valley. We were excited to host them at Brooks with our local family that were on the cruise as well. To say we had a fun night is an understatement!
It was another busy week at Brooks. In my role as Board Chair for WineAmerica, I had the opportunity to introduce a Founder of Kiss The Ground to all the Regional Wine Associations to talk about their work on improving the Farm Bill in 2023 and the soon-to be launched campaign Regenerate America.
You can feel summer coming to a close. Our last summer concert is tonight. Harvest is right around the corner!

I read a friend’s email every Saturday and yesterday he talked about just how uncertain these times are and to remember they are that way for all of us. He reminded me how important kindness is. It is always important but especially during trying times. Keep kindness top of mind.

HARVEST IS IN THE AIR
While I haven’t been able to walk the hill every day for my exercise, I really enjoy it when I get to. Yesterday, I stopped to say hello to this horse and I was struck by the view beyond him up the hill. So many grapevines! We have three vineyards adjacent to our Estate so four vineyards (about 60 acres) that we get fruit from on our hill. The grapes in the photos are the old vine plantings of Riesling and Pommard (both early 1970s).
Starting with next week’s email, I will start writing a specific section about harvest and what we have been up to. The weather forecast looks great. We are all getting very excited! Here is to an amazing 2021 vintage! Cheers!
