I hope this finds you safe and healthy. And thank you to all our healthcare workers on the front lines working so hard for everyone. I had my first COVID test out of an abundance of caution. Not pleasant but grateful that the result was negative.
One of my favorite reasons for taking Brooks customers on international trips is the long-lasting friendships that are made. This week, eight of attendees on our river cruise to Portugal in 2019 reunited in the Willamette Valley. We were excited to host them at Brooks with our local family that were on the cruise as well. To say we had a fun night is an understatement!
It was another busy week at Brooks. In my role as Board Chair for WineAmerica, I had the opportunity to introduce a Founder of Kiss The Ground to all the Regional Wine Associations to talk about their work on improving the Farm Bill in 2023 and the soon-to be launched campaign Regenerate America.
You can feel summer coming to a close. Our last summer concert is tonight. Harvest is right around the corner!
The love and accolades continued this week as you will see below. And the last opportunity to purchase the Complete Package for Beyond Brooks is today. I am super excited with how many people have already decided to spend a Saturday a month immersed in wine, learn about other industries and have a blast!
I read a friend’s email every Saturday and yesterday he talked about just how uncertain these times are and to remember they are that way for all of us. He reminded me how important kindness is. It is always important but especially during trying times. Keep kindness top of mind.
Read on and happy Sunday.
Harvest is in the Air
While I haven’t been able to walk the hill every day for my exercise, I really enjoy it when I get to. Yesterday, I stopped to say hello to this horse and I was struck by the view beyond him up the hill. So many grapevines! We have three vineyards adjacent to our Estate so four vineyards (about 60 acres) that we get fruit from on our hill. The grapes in the photos are the old vine plantings of Riesling and Pommard (both early 1970s).
Starting with next week’s email, I will start writing a specific section about harvest and what we have been up to. The weather forecast looks great. We are all getting very excited! Here is to an amazing 2021 vintage! Cheers!
We are Feeling the Love!
We are very honored to share that Brooks was named one of the 25 Best Wineries in America by Reader’s Digest. This list is a great resource when you are planning a trip to a wine region! Read the full article here.
Thank you for so many congratulations about being named in the Top 100 Wineries in the World by Wine & Spirits Magazine. Chris and I had a nice interview with the reviewer this week. We look forward to participating in their Top 100 Tastings in San Francisco and New York later this year.
We also received great scores from the Wine Enthusiast. We sent out an email this week pre-releasing these wines for a limited time. Wine Club discounts apply. Read all the reviews here.
Escape with Us Once a Month
In addition to being an educational and inspiring event, one of my favorite things about Beyond Brooks was that it brought people together from all over the country to share a Saturday afternoon once a month. We learned, we met like-minded partners, we ate, we drank and we get to do it all over again! I hope you will join us for Season 2 of Beyond Brooks.
$45 for every complete bundle purchased will be donated to 1% For The Planet and our partners at Kiss The Ground!
Today is the LAST DAY to purchase the Complete Bundle. You get a gift with purchase: 4 Logo Wine Glasses and a $!00 gift card OR a Coravin Wine Preservation System. You will be contacted after purchase about gift selection and shipping options.
September Beyond Brooks Event
I am excited to introduce you to our first partner for Season 2 Beyond Brooks-Dry Goods Beverage Company. Founded by a second-generation winemaker and a cocktail book author, they believe that whether you are drinking alcohol or not, everyone deserves a good drink. With the enormous rise in non-alcoholic spirits, beer, wine and cocktail alternatives, they have found the best and most interesting, low sugar options.
I have personally tried many of their offerings and have loved them. It is great to have delicious and festive alternatives when you want to drink something without alcohol. For the event, we have selected the Som Cordials, founded by Chef Andy Rickers of the infamous Pok Pok restaurants. We paired these with the wines to support an interesting and inspiring tasting.
This bundle includes:
- 1 bottle of 2019 Brooks Ara Riesling
- 1 bottle of 2018 Brooks Cahiers Pinot Noir
- A sample pack of Som Vinegar Cordials with 5, 4 oz sample bottles of Ginger, Thai Basil, Oregon Berry, Pineapple Szechuan Pepper, and Tangerine Sea Salt
- Webinar with Adrienne Stillman Krausz, co-founder of The Dry Goods Beverage Company, Janie Heuck, Managing Director of Brooks, and Master of Wine, Bree Stock on Saturday, September 18th at 1 pm PST/4 pm EST
All of this for just $99 plus shipping. The wine alone retails for $83. This is the inaugural release for the 2018 Cahiers Pinot Noir and is only available through this webinar for now. The 2019 Ara is one of the wines that propelled us into the Top 100!
The cutoff for purchase is September 6th.
I hope you will join us as we kick of Season 2 of Beyond Brooks!
