2017 Janus Pinot Noir Magnum 1.5 L
An expressive and elegant Pinot Noir with bright red fruit notes and a hint of rose petal.
In Roman mythology, Janus is the God for new beginnings, as well as endings, the future, the past and doorways. Janus is the God of balance. The ultimate expression of Pinot Noir! Janus is our flagship… the richest, most vibrant and intense blend that we produce.
Janus is the first label that Jimi produced when he founded Brooks in 1998. Jimi’s passion and interests of mythology and astrology often were shown through the creation of his first wines.
Flavor Notes

Limpid ruby-red. Vibrant and finely detailed on the perfumed nose, displaying intense red berry, cherry and floral character and building floral and mineral notes. Lithe, focused and appealingly sweet, offering juicy raspberry, cherry, spicecake and candied rose flavors and subtle mocha and cola flourishes. Blends depth and energy with a sure hand and closes with strong, floral-driven persistence and smooth, well-knit tannins that sneak in late.

A beautifully elegant Pinot Noir dominated with bright red fruit notes of red currants, pomegranate, bing cherry and freeze-dried strawberries.

Winemaking Notes
A wet, cool spring delayed flowering until late June, which set the stage for a later harvest than the previous three vintages. Hot, dry conditions prevailed through the summer, yielding heat spikes in August. With a larger than normal fruit set, the grapes enjoyed long hang time leading up to harvest. Conditions cooled and brought in scattered rains with the harvest, which began at Brooks on the 28th of September and ran through November 1st, almost returning to normal average harvest dates in the Willamette Valley. The wines from the vintage show fresh fruit flavors and lively acidity. In all, it will be remembered as a classic vintage in Oregon!
