2019 Cahiers Pinot Noir

This wine is no longer available, but the 2021 Cahiers Pinot Noir is.

A luxuriously rich and full-bodied Pinot Noir with rose oil and oolong tea aromas and deep notes of dark fruits, charcuterie, and sea salt on the palate.

Cahiers (KY-YAY) is French for Notebooks or Journals in remembrance and honor of Jimi Brooks, who loved to read and write. Pascal found his father’s journals after he passed, and they allowed him to connect with his father through each journal entry.

Only 100 cases produced!

92 Points | Wine & Spirits - Cahiers refers to the school notebooks late-founder Jimi Brooks encountered in France during his stages as an apprentice winemaker. The aromas here are dark and burnished, suave and grounded, a ripe wine but with the stuffing to accommodate the ripeness. It’s got an elegance about it for something like beef and mushroom stew.

- Patrick J. Comiskey
A deeply sumptuous Pinot Noir with lively notes of blackberry, blood orange, luxardo cherry, and a warm sandalwood finish.

This wine would be amazing with a blackberry cobbler and some vanilla bean ice cream! A dusting of powdered sugar and some fresh blueberries would be a great accompaniment.
Norma Buchholz
Chef
A dedication to the notes left behind from our founder Jimi Brooks, this wine is a elegant romp for any bon-vivant. Composed of only four barrels, the 2019 Cahiers effuses rose oil, fresh licorice and wisps of brulee and clove. On the palate this wine is well structured and plush, with a rich, round mid-palate and long, salty plum finish.

Winemaking Notes

A wet, but warm spring with a few mild frosts during late April and fewer than average heat spikes.
Near-record precipitation amounts during late June and early July brought increased disease pressure to the region.
The vintage will be remembered for the early rains in September and rapid cool down into October which challenged harvesting decisions.
The cool vintage came largely from substantially lower maximum temperatures while minimum temperatures were near average to slightly above average.
A classic Oregon vintage!
