2019 Crannell Pinot Noir
A brilliant Pinot Noir with complex layers of red fruits, cherry cola, and a long finish with cinnamon bark and iron notes.
Comprised of Pinot Noir grapes from Crannell vineyard located in the Eola-Amity Hills, right below Brooks Estate vineyard. The vines were planted in 1984 in volcanic basalt-jory and nekia soil.
This Pinot Noir is made of 4 clones: Pommard, 115, 777, and 667.
Only 300 cases produced!
A wet, but warm spring with a few mild frosts during late April and fewer than average heat spikes.
Near-record precipitation amounts during late June and early July brought increased disease pressure to the region.
The vintage will be remembered for the early rains in September and rapid cool down into October which challenged harvesting decisions.
The cool vintage came largely from substantially lower maximum temperatures while minimum temperatures were near average to slightly above average.
