2022 Cahiers Riesling

93+ Points | Jeb Dunnuck – A beautifully balanced medium-dry Riesling with tropical aromas of pineapple and peach blossoms complemented by chamomile and Meyer lemon. The palate offers white peach and passion fruit with star fruit and golden delicious apple, finishing with warming baking spices that add depth and complexity.

93+ Points | Jeb Dunnuck - "A silver yellow color, the 2022 Riesling Cahiers is lifted with savory petrol as well as smoky earth, citrus pith, a touch of fuzzy tropical notes, and rocky earth. Medium-bodied, it too has a kiss of residual sugar and is off-dry but lean and refreshing, with a long, delicate, floral finish. This is a very elegant white to drink over the coming 10 or more years."

Well-balanced RS and acidity, lovely pitted/stone fruit characters on the nose follow through on pineapple pith, passion fruit, and chamomile. Super-balanced finish. Would be an excellent wine with most foods, but would “pop” with popcorn and a good movie or a chunk of Parmesan cheese and salami.

Lively and spirited, the acid welcomes you and the fruit is plentiful. Lemon sorbet, pineapple reduction, and yerba mate with a dash of honeysuckle. Can be laid down for 5+ years, but who are we to judge? Good things come to the impatient too.

Winemaking Notes

Heavy frost in April delayed flowering and pushed back the season. Cool temperatures in May and June further delayed the vintage. The fear was that the grapes wouldn't ripen in time for harvest if the rain and cold weather came in early October as usual.
Luckily July and August saw hot temperatures that helped accelerate ripening, and temperatures remained warm, and the rains held off until mid-October, allowing for an extended ripening period.
We let our grapes hang out until the last possible minute, just before the rain and cold weather hit. The 2022 harvest was fast and furious, to say the least! The resultant wines are stunningly balanced and expressive. A truly classic Oregon vintage!
