2024 Janus Pinot Noir

96 Points | James Suckling- From historic old vine sites across the Willamette Valley, this wine is meticulously crafted from barrel to final blend. Soft huckleberry and black cherry are laced with a salty umeboshi edge. Bright acidity drives the palate, gaining weight through the finish while staying firm and polished. Built for the table and second pours.

Very spicy at first, with wonderful purity of red and blue fruit on the medium-bodied palate. A blend from the oldest vines, planted from the early 1970s to the mid 1980s. Drink or hold.

Brooks has it all — Great story, great people, great wines.

Dave McIntyre, Washington Post
"A gorgeous wine that gives and gives with Bordeaux cherry, red apple skin and baked cranberry aromatics along with lingering herb notes of thyme and basil. The palate is long and with great weight, length, and concentration. Additional notes of sassafras and unprocessed coffee bean grace both the nose and the palate for additional complexity tempting you to "just a little more."

Bright acidity drive the palate, gaining weight through the finish while staying firm and polished. Built for the table and second pours. Can't think of a reason to hold back."

"This wine opens with an aromatic blend of violet and lavender layered over a vibrant mix of red and dark berries, from cranberry and raspberry to blackberry and black cherry, with a hint of kirsch adding depth. The palate carries through juicy blue and black fruits alongside a subtle touch of fig, giving a rich yet lifted profile. Firm tannins and medium-plus acidity provide structure and energy, leading to a balanced, medium-length finish with lingering floral and dark fruit notes."

Winemaking Notes

The 2024 growing season began with an earl bud break followed by warm and dry weather. Consistent sunshine throughout the summer allowed for optimal hang time.

There was a brief heatwave in July, but cool nights helped maintain acidity. Harvest commenced in early October, allowing for a smooth picking process with no pressure to rush.

Overall, fruit quality was outstanding, with balanced acidity and complex flavors. The 2024 vintage yielded vibrant wines with excellent concentration, making it a standout year for Oregon wine.
