It is official–we can gather together again in Oregon as of June 30th!!

Dear Friends,

Happy 4th of July! I hope this finds you surrounded by friends, family, and your 4th of July traditions!

It was a big week in Oregon. We have reopened. Having restrictions in some capacity for 16 months, made me reflect on so many things that had to be thought about during COVID. It may not have seemed obvious but countless hours and thought went into what marketing materials we used..did they accurately reflect restrictions like masks and distancing. There were so many pre COVID marketing materials that we were not able to use. A great example is the video above. We can finally gather together again.

It is a new month, new menu, new gift for joining the Wine Club, and an update on the travel opportunity to Sicily. Enjoy.

Happy Sunday,

Janie

New Month, New Menu, New Flights

An aerial shot of Brooks Wines with a lunch paired by Chef Norma

Cool off with our July menu featuring a peach and burrata salad, honeydew gazpacho, tabbouleh with curry-spiced chicken tenders, a hot dog smothered in kimchi, and The Perfect Pairing: seared salmon with savoy cabbage & orzo pasta in a spiced Dijon cream sauce topped with crispy sweet potato paired with the 2017 La Chenaie Riesling. And yes, the hot dog and bubbles were an inspiration from the Better Homes and Garden article I shared last week!

Have you ever wondered how we select the wines each month for the flight? Well, it starts with an educational theme picked by April, our Director of Business Development and Education. For example, July’s theme is Eola-Amity Hills. Then I select wines to support the education so in this case, they are all from vineyards in the Eola Amity Hills. The team gets trained on the topic. One night after work, they blind taste the wines for the flight. Why blind? To make them really focus on what they are tasting, what they like about the wines and what differences they notice. They receive technical data on the wines as well. They finish by picking the order that the wines should be poured in on the flight. Just like everything at Brooks, there is intention, focus and education.

Sicily and Mt Etna
Sicily and Mt Etna

Thank you to all that have signed up for the October Sicily trip. There are spots left so if you are considering it, now is the time! Remember the max group size is 24.

My husband, David, and I will be on the Sicily trip as well as the extension to the Amalfi Coast.

It still seems surreal to be talking about traveling. I hope you can join us!

Always here. [email protected] or 831-238-4828.

Cheers,

Janie
